Welcome to The ACP Advocate,
Today's first story brings you up-to-date on ACP's Patients Before Paperwork initiative. As part of our efforts to reduce administrative burdens on physicians we are collecting information from members about burdens you come across in your practices. Please take a look at the story where you'll find a link to a survey where you can share information with us.
In our second article we look at HHS' newly announced Conscience and Religious Freedom division. The College supports conscience exemptions for physicians, however, we want to make sure that they aren't used to support discriminatory practices. We'll be watching the situation as the new division gets underway.
Finally, our last story looks at a new report from the National Academies about e-cigarettes. ACP's own policy strongly supports increasing regulations for electronic nicotine delivery systems.
Keep an eye out for our next issue on Feb. 23. In that issue we'll look, in detail, at the health care impacts of this week's budget dealings in Washington, we'll let you know about a new nonpartisan group tackling our country's health care challenges, and we'll let you know about a regulatory win that ACP helped to bring about.

Highlights of ACP’s 2017 Member Survey results are available on the ACP website. Invitations for the survey went out to 2,000 randomly selected members, and their opinions give ACP direction and feedback on how to improve and best meet the needs of internal medicine physicians.
The survey results can be viewed by members only and logging in is required.
